Regular Meeting August 12, 2009

 

     The meeting was called to order at 7:30PM. Present were Mayor Mahoney, Trustee Rocque, Kelts and Carson. Trustee VanDervoort was absent. Clerk Koblensky and Attorney Varley were also present. Also attending were Bob Lowther, Jim and Nancy O’Brien, Cheri Peaslee, Craig Falcone, Asst. Chief Jason Rocque, Asst. Chief Brian Wright and Chief John Fairclough.

     Trustee Kelts moved to waive the reading from the previous meeting and the special meeting. Trustee Rocque seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

      Trustee Rocque reports for Trustee VanDervoort- Heritage Day was a great success! Russ would like to thank Craig for all his efforts with the canal and for the walk on parade day. We also celebrated canal splash with many events, concert under the stars fire works that were fantastic! Fire Dept. had 11 alarms this month along with weekly truck and equipment checks. The fire dept. participated in the Hudson Mohawk Valley Firemen Convention parade which was held in Mechanicville. There were 45 company’s entered our fire dept. took second place in standard dress.

       Trustee Rocque reports- Works has been done in the following areas: Street maintenance, Park and Trail maintenance and Sidewalk maintenance. Full report available in the Village office.

      Trustee Kelts- reports The All Paul Show will perform this Saturday in the park. The great village sellout plans are underway.

      The financial report for the month of July are as follows:  Checking Acct.  $34,309; Money Market Acct. $167,900; for a total General fund balance of $202,209. Special projects fund balance $11,243; Unaudited Utilites $4,956; Payroll $12,096; Section 8, $24,872. The current abstract is $41,728.00 and Special project abstract is $62,675.75.  Funds Transfer $65,465.60 from the general acct. to the money market acct. This will allow the village to earn interest at a greater rate. Transferred $126.24 of spending authority from A3410.41 to A1325.4. This transfer allows the general fund to recoup payment for social security payments made on the fire dept. personnel. Made principal ($31,000) & interest ($3,743.25) payments on the rescue engine serial bond for the total $34,743.25.  Employee retirement system monthly report, constitutional tax limit, county payroll certification.

      Mayor reports- last month I reported that national grid removing poles on Broad  Street and other areas of the village, this has been completed. I have a meeting this week with national grid regarding the lights and poles on upper Broad Street in front of the old gas station, and talk about installing the period lighting. HMA has raised the price of repairing sidewalks double the amount. Mike Donlon of Donlon Construction is interested in working with the villages sidewalk program. Pakatar Landscaping, did the  landscaping of the parking lot on Broad Street as part of the Main Street Project.

       Trustee Kelts offered resolution#  authorizing a transfer of $126.24 from A3410.41 to A1325.4. Trustee Rocque offered the second. All Trustee and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

        Trustee Kelts offered resolution#    authorizing a transfer of $29,000 from the general fund to the special projects fund. Trustee Rocque offered the second. All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

        Trustee Rocque offered resolution#    authorizing the advertising of bids for a new pumper for Ford Hose upon approval of spec by committee and the Village Board. Trustee Kelts offered the second. All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

         Trustee Kelts offered resolution#    appointing new fireman Wayne Rednick and Justin Hines to Kavanaugh Hook & Ladder Company. Zachary Lenegar, to J.W. Ford Hose Company, effective when a letter is received, from their fire departments. Trustee Rocque offered the second. All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

 

       As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:42PM.
