Regular Meeting February 11, 2009

 

      The meeting was called to at 7:30pm, Present were Mayor Mahoney, Trustee Rocque,Vandervoort and Pascucci. Trustee Kelts was absent. Attorney Varley, Clerk Koblensky and Treasure Ryan Vandervoort were present. Also attending were Chief Fairclough, Asst. Chief Brian Wright, Craig Falcone and Cheri Peaslee.

       Trustee Rocque moved to waive the reading from the previous meeting and the special meeting. Trustee Vandervoort seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

        Trustee Pascicci- reports Russ, John and I will meet with Dave Meager from Adirondack Trust to discuss Fire insurance for the year. As far as The Quadricentennial, possible 5k run

and a spelling bee for the kids.

          Trustee VanDervoort- reports new book for the fire dept. Laws and Management

Resource Manual excellent book everything you need to know is in this book. The fire dept. had 7 alarms for the month of January, along with truck and equipment checks. The Fire Departments Banquet will be held at the Century House on February 21, 2009.

. I meet the truck committee from Ford Hose as well as the Mayor and the Fire Chief things, are going well with the replacement of the truck. Canals I attended a meeting on the Mohawk towpath byway, Waterford is well represented by Merle Doud. Next meeting will be in April at the Cohoes Civic Center. The 2009 canal clean sweep will be Saturday April 18th. Burton Ave grant program Alive again this Spring, and Sidecut lock grant program will be completed this spring. Heritage Day will be a week long this year. Canal Way project with the Museum, this is the 5th year. June 2-9 4th grade educational program 800 people attended last year. New fence along the canal is being installed, looks great.

             Trustee Rocque- reports Director of Public Works:  work has been done in the following areas: Storm debris cleanup, Christmas tree pickup and Snow and Ice removal Full report is available in the village office.

              Trustee Kelts – absent, Mayor reports- canal fest is underway, Kickerbocker Consulting have sent out the contracts.

               The financial reports for the month of January is as follows: Checking Acct. $35,587.37; Money Market Acct., $44,979.51 for a total General fund balance of $80,566.88. Special project fund balance, $16,855.66; Unaudited Utilites, $9,157.89;

Payroll $5,917.40; Section 8, $26,854.05. The current abstract on the General Fund totals $21,004.17. Made interest Payment ($3,746.22) on the Rescue Engine Serial Bond for the total.        

             Trustee Rocque moved to pay the bills upon the approval of the department heads and the board. Trustee VanDervoort seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

              Mayor Mahoney- Two weeks age we were declared a Preserve America Community Designation, only 700 in the US and 32 in NYS. This is a great honor for Waterford, could

also led to some Federal Grants. Chazen did a preliminary scope on Second Street, looking at possible curbs or mini boulevard. I walked with the bidders for the garbage contract, look at the alleys and Division Street.

               Trustee Rocque offered resolution #    appointing Board of Assessment Review members Patrick Pascucci 1 Pearl Street chairman, Michael Mahoney 11 4th Street and Sean Sullivan 66 Second Street. Trustee VanDervoort offered the second. All Trustee and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

                Trustee Rocque offered resolution #   That the March 11, 2009 meeting be held at the Waterford Library @ 7:30PM.Trustee Pascucci offered the second. All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

                 Trustee Vandervoort offered resolution # accepting resignation of Harmony Fizgerald as a deputy village clerk. Trustee Rocque offered the second. All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

                 Trustee VanDervoort offered resolution #   authorizing a handicap sign for 34 second street if all paper work is in order. Trustee Pascucci offered the second. All Trustee and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

                 Trustee Rocque offered resolution # approving the line officers for the fire dept. Ford Hose: Captain Matt Ball, Lt. Eric Esterby, Lt. Andy Castle. Knicks: Captain Matt Roy,

Lt. Mike Byrnes, Lt. Dan Norton. KHL: Captain Don Baldwin, Lt. Jeff O’Connor, Lt. Michael Koblensky. Trustee VanDervoort offered the second. All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

                   Trustee Rocque offered resolution # appointing new member to the Knickerbocker Steamer Co. Stanley Westerfelt. Trustee VanDervoort offered the second. All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

                     Trustee Rocque offered resolution#   removing Marc Coco from Kavanaugh Hook and Ladder Co membership list. Trustee VanDervoort offered the second. All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

                       Trustee Pascucci offered resolution #    to have a Special meeting on February 25, 2009 at 7:00Pm. To discuss the porch structure and make an order for the property at 8 Division Street with Ronald A. Bova, P.E., and the homeowner Ihor Sydor.

Trustee Rocque offered the second. All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.
