Special Meeting—Aug. 6, 2003

 

            The meeting was called to order at 7PM by Mayor J. Bert Mahoney.  The purpose of this meeting was to decide whether or not to accept any of the bids entered for installing new curbing on 8th St.

            The roll call showed Trustees  Kelts, Pascucci, and Rocque to be present, as well as Attorney Varley, Treasurer Gorham and Clerk O’Brien.  Trustees VanDervoort was absent due to illness.

            The sole bidder for the project was Callanan Industries, with a bid of $23,940.00  for concrete curbs and $25,080.00 for granite curbs. 

            Trustee Kelts moved to reject the bid for curbing.  His motion was seconded by Trustee Rocque and the motion carried unanimously.

            Mayor Mahoney reported that he had just been advised that the State will do a complete rebuild of Broad Street, from 7th St. to the canal bridge, including sidewalks, for a payment of $16,000. by the village.  The state requires a “Reverse Betterment Resolution”, which they will send for our attorney’s approval.

            Trustee Rocque offered a Resolution (#      ) authorizing the mayor to sign the Reverse Betterment Resolution with New York State.  The second was offered by Trustee Kelts.  All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted Yes.

            Mayor Mahoney requested that the August agenda meeting be changed to 6:30 PM on Wed., Aug. 13, prior to the regular monthly meeting.  Trustee Rocque moved to accept the change.  Trustee Kelts seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

            A special abstract was presented totaling $2,235. for the fence behind the bocce court.  Trustee Kelts offered the Resolution (#     ) to pay the bills upon approval of the Village Board.  Trustee Pascucci offered the second.  All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted Yes.

            The meeting was adjourned at 7:15PM.
