Regular Meeting—March 14, 2007

 

            The meeting was convened at 7:45 PM following a public hearing.  After the Pledge of Allegiance as moment of silence was observed in memory of James F. Murphy, Jr.

            The roll call showed all Trustees and Mayor Mahoney were present.  Also present were Attorney Varley and Deputy Treas. VanDervoort. 

            Trustee Kelts moved to waive reading the minutes from the previous meetings.  The motion was seconded by Trustee Rocque and carried unanimously.

            The financial report for the month of Feb. is as follows:  Checking Account, $44,465.52;  Money Mkt. Acct., $235,255.44; total General Fund, $279,720.96.  The unaudited  utilities, $7,195.14; Payrolls, $4,018.35; Section 8, $21,819.80.

            The current General Fund abstract totals $35,977.45.  Trustee Rocque moved to pay these bills upon approval of the department heads and the Village Board.  All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

COMMITTEE  REPORTS:

            Trustee Pascucci—reported on insurance for the Fire Dept. and new appliances for the wading pool.

            Trustee VanDervoort—gave the monthly fire report and spoke about the canal grants.  (The complete fire report is available from the Village Clerk.)

            Trustee Rocque—gave the DPW report, including praise for the snow removal after the Feb. storm.  (The complete DPW report is available from the Village Clerk.)

            Trustee Kelts reported on the upcoming Canalfest and also confirmed the Concerts in the Park, which will be held on Sunday afternoons this summer.

            Mayor Mahoney reported that the Main Street Program has $25,000. in streetscape money, which will help to install period lighting on the south side of Broad St.  All of the CDBG money has been used for facades and business loans.  A Classic Car Show will be held on Division St. and in the Fourth St. playground July 21 from 10AM to 4PM for the benefit of the Waterford VFW.  Pre-registration cost is $8.00.  More details will follow.

            Trustee Kelts offered Resolution #         authorizing J.C. McGrievey’s to use an off-premises  license and operate outdoors in their parking lot on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17.  Also, to extend the noise ordinance to 10 PM.  Trustee Rocque offered the second; all Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted Yes.

            Trustee Kelts offered Resolution #       to call for a Public Hearing on April 11 at 7:15 PM regarding a stop sign to be placed at the Northeast corner of Tug Boat Alley and South St.  Trustee Pascucci offered the second; all Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted Yes.

            Trustee Rocque offered Resolution #        authorizing the First United Church to hold an Easter Sunrise Service in Knickerbocker Park on Sunday, April 08, 2007.  Trustee Kelts offered the second; all Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted Yes.

            Trustee Rocque offered Resolution #          granting permission for the Friends of the Waterford Public Library to hold an arts and crafts show in O’Connor Park on Sept. 22, in conjunction with the village sellout.  Trustee Kelts offered the second; all Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted Yes.

            Trustee Kelts offered Resolution #         authorizing the mayor to sign an agreement with the firm of Purinton & Morris CPA’s to provide financial services to the village.  Trustee Pascucci offered the second; all Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted Yes.

            As there was no further business to conduct, the meeting was adjourned.
