Regular Meeting June 11, 2008

 

     The meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM., following two public hearings.

Mayor Mahoney and all trustees were present, as well as Attorney Varley, Treasurer

VanDervoort, Clerk O’Brien and Deputy clerk Koblensky. Also attending were Paul

and Paula Caradori, Tony Scarchilli, Katy Pinckney, Shannon Herrington, Rebecca

Miller, Jim O’Brien, Gregg Gallucci, Bob Lowther and Cheri Peaslee.

      Trustee Kelts moved to waive reading the minutes of the previous meeting. His

motion was seconded by trustee Rocque and passed unanimously.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

      Trustee Pascucci- The Village parks will open June 30th thru August 15th 9:00am to

3:00pm. All field trips must be paid two days in advance. Revisit adult basketball league

Wednesday nights fourth street park 5:30PM-9:00PM.

      Trustee VanDervoort-Canal educational program began on May 28th this is the 6th

year. Heritage Day will be August 8&9 including a muster and Button pumper

competition. No fire report available as this time. Chief Fairclough thanks all who

were involved with assisting the 100 board street fire. See attached list.

     Trustee Rocque- The public works director reports work has been done during the

month of April, Lawrence St. project, tree removal. Repairing/replacing signs around

the Village. Residents will be able to drop off their lawn bags at the Town highway

facility on June 15, July 13, and Aug. 10 from 7AM-11AM.

      Trustee Kelts- There is one concert in the park on August 1, 2008 at 7:00PM.

The All Paul Show will perform. There were a few trash complaints, they were taken care of in a timely manner.                                                                                                                                      

               The financial report for May is as follows: Checking Acct., $74,628.98; money

Market Acct., $86,239.00, for a total General fund balance of $ 160,867.98. The Special

Projects fund balance, $2,584.34; Unaudited Utilities, $4,710.62; Payrolls, $7893.96;

and section 8, $27,783.10.There are 2 abstracts to approve: General Fund accounts

payable from the previous fiscal year, $24,028.49; General Fund for this fiscal year,

$3,956.64. Trustee Kelts moved to pay all of these bills upon approval of the department

heads and the Village Board. Trustee Rocque offered the second and all Trustees and

Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

        Mayor Mahoney reported- plans for fence on the Champlain Canal were approvedby NYS canal Corp. The new street lights are being installed on Broad Street. The community has done a great deal for all those who lost everything in the Broad Street fire. Red Cross received checks from Hannaford & Momentive.

         Trustee Kelts offered Resolution#    to accept Section 8 Agency Plan. The second

was offered by Trustee Rocque. All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

          Trustee Kelts offered Resolution#   to adopt fire lane between #2 and #4

VanSchoonhooven Square. The second was offered by Trustee Rocque. All Trustees

and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

           Trustee Kelts offered Resolution #   to appoint Joe Clark Bldg. Inspector/

Zoning Comm. Bob Lowther assistant Zoning Comm. The second was offered by

Trustee Rocque. All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

            Trustee Kelts offered Resolution #   for pay increase for Josh Masse to $8.50

and Al Cassella Jr. to $9.50. The second was offered by Trustee Pascucci. All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

        Trustee Rocque offered Resolution#    calling for a public hearing on July 9 at

7:15 PM to discuss parking on division street by St Mary’s Hall. Trustee Kelts

offered the second; all Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

         Trustee Pascucci offered Resolution#   reserving the 4th St. basketball courts

on Wed. evening from 5:30 to 9:00 PM for adult basketball league. Trustee Kelt

offered the second; all Trustees and Mahoney voted yes.

           Trustee Pascucci offered Resolution#     appointing Paul Gervasio and Justin

Messier as adult coordinators at $200 each for the season, and Referee Scott McIntyle

at $90 per night. Trustee Rocque offered the second; all Trustees and Mayor Mahoney

voted yes.

             Trustee Pascucci offered Resolution#     appointing village park counselors

Kyle Williams full time at $8.50 per hour and Erica Clickner full time at $8.15 per

hour. Casey Caradori part time at $7.85 per hour, Jeffery Yattaw, Carey Simoncic

and Amanda Lee part time at $7.41 per hour. Trustee Rocque offered the second;

all Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

              Trustee Kelts offered Resolution#      to accept Village Clerk, Nancy P O’Brien

Resignation with regret. Trustee Rocque offered second; all Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

               Rebecca Miller and neighbors addressed the Village Board in regards to

high volume and speed of traffic in the alley behind the Post Office. Village Board members will look at this problem and will try to find a solution.
