Regular Meeting—January 9, 2008
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM following a public hearing. Present were Trustees Kelts, Rocque, VanDervoort, and Mayor Mahoney. Trustee Pascucci was absent. Also attending were Attorney Varley, Clerk O’Brien, Deputy Clerk Koblensky, Chief John Fairclough, Jim Mullahey, Bob Mielenz, Todd Owens, Mr. & Mrs. Harrigan, Cheri Peaslee and Jim O’Brien.
Trustee Kelts moved to waive reading the minutes from the previous meeting. Trustee Rocque seconded the motion and all voted Yes.
COMMITTEE REPORTS: Trustee Pascucci—absent, no Parks report Trustee VanDervoort—Fire Dept. answered 11 alarms during Dec. Members also participated in the Christmas Parade and shoveled out hydrants following a heavy snowstorm. Two members will be attending the National Fire Academy this year. (The complete report is available from the Village Clerk.) Another grant has been received for additional work on the towpath from Lock 2 Park to Burton Ave. Trustee Rocque—the Public Works director Craig Falcone has announced that Christmas trees will be picked up on Saturdays, between 7AM and 10 AM through Jan. 26. The turn-around at the end of Lawrence St. should be started soon. The delay has been due to the necessary re-routing of the sewage which flows through the manhole in this area. Craig thanks the residents and business people for their cooperation with snow plowing and clearing sidewalks. A crew from Mt. McGregor correctional facility is working in the village for a few weeks and providing a much appreciated service. Trustee Kelts---A few problems have been addressed with regard to garbage and trash, but most village residents try to cooperate with our ordinances. The financial report for Dec. is as follows: Checking Acct., $48,655.21; Money Market Acct., $125,448.81; Total General Fund, $174,104.02. Special Projects Fund, $27,540.53; Utilities, $7,161.86; Payrolls, $6,062.99; and Section 8, $25,435.10. There is a General Fund abstract in the amount of $22, 961.56. Trustee Kelts moved to pay these bills upon approval of the department heads and the Village Board. Trustee Rocque seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. Mayor Mahoney announced that Brian Wright was appointed to the position of Second Assistant Fire Chief on Monday, Jan. 7, 2008. Trustee Kelts offered Resolution # to establish a No Parking Zone on both north and south sides of Lawrence St., beginning on the easterly boundaries of #1 and #2 Lawrence St. and continuing east to the end of Lawrence St., as discussed at the public hearing preceding this meeting. Trustee Rocque offered the second; all Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted Yes. Trustee Kelts offered Resolution # stating there will be no registration day for the Village election to be held March 18. Trustee Rocque offered the second; all Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted Yes. Trustee Kelts offered Resolution # to establish the following polling places for the Village Election: Senior Citizen’s Center, Kavanaugh Hook & Ladder Co. fire house, and Ford Hose Co. fire house. Trustee Rocque offered the second; all Trustees voted Yes. Trustee Rocque offered Resolution # stating that voting hours on March 18 will be from 7AM until 9 PM. Trustee Kelts offered the second; all Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted Yes. Trustee Rocque offered Resolution # approving a handicap parking sign at 20 Middle St. Trustee Kelts offered the second; all Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted Yes.
