Regular Meeting -- October 9, 2002
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM by Mayor J. Bert Mahoney. All
trustees were present, as well as
Treasurer Gorham, Attorney Varley, Clerk O'Brien, George Bush and John
Callaghan. Dave Meager of Round
Lake Insurance was also present to discuss possible special insurance coverage
with the board.
Trustee Kelts moved to waive reading the minutes from the previous meeting and
accept them as written.
Trustee Rocque seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Trustee Pascucci-Total expenses from the summer parks program are included
in the current abstract. It has been suggested that a cap should be placed on
the amount to be spent by this program,
and it will be discussed at a future meeting.
Trustee Falcone-Leaves are still being picked up, but slowly. A First St.
resident has requested permission to install a driveway next to her house. It is
being looked into.
Trustee Rocque-An open house is being held at Ford Hose in celebration of Fire
Prevention month in Waterford.
The department answered a total of 6 alarms during the month and training
continues on a weekly basis.
The work at Kavanaugh fire house has been completed and the truck has been
returned from the painter.
Striping still needs to be done at a local shop.
Trustee Kelts-The Great Village Sellout was a success. Special thanks goes to
Jean Lavigne for all the publicity. We're now beginning to plan next year's
second
annual Fyfe and Drumm Muster.
The financial report for the month of September is as follows: Checking Account
balance, $53,608.71;
Money Market Account balance, $291 .086.67 for a total cash balance of
$344.695.38. The special projects fund
shows a balance of $45,757.99. Unaudited utilities for Sept. were $3,332.43;
payroll, $3,842.34; Section 8, 16,906.00
and Petty Cash, $39.22. The current abstract is in the amount of $30,621.83.
Trustee Rocque moved to accept the
financial report and pay the bills upon approval of the department heads and the
village board. Trustee Kelts seconded
the motion and it carried unanimously.
Mayor Mahoney announced that a public meeting regarding the reconstruction of
the 9th St. bridge will be held on Oct. 15
at the Civic Center. Paving is being done in the Washington Ave. area and the
alley between 7th and 8th Streets.
The Street-scape Grant from the state is still pending.
Mayor Mahoney invited Dave Meager to speak regarding the insurance questions
before the new business portion of the meeting.
After reviewing the current coverage on the Village's insurance policy, Mr.
Meager addressed the question of additional
insurance to cover the contractor who does the snow plowing for the Village. He
advised against attempting to insure the
contractor and to accept a large increase in the cost of plowing. He will look
into the cost of increasing our coverage in other
areas and report at the next meeting.
Mayor Mahoney asked for a budget transfer of $1500. from Al 990.4 to A8510.4 to
cover the cost of the Streetscape Grant application.
The Resolution (#21 ) was offered by Trustee Kelts and seconded by Trustee
Rocque. All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted Yes
Trustee Kelts offered a Resolution (#.22) to pay Callanan an additional
$1,250.00 for 82 feet of curb along Washington Ave. What was originally believed
to be curbing turned out to be granite paving stones.
Trustee Rocque offered the second. All trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted Yes.
Trustee Kelts offered the Resolution (#23) approving the dates of May 30 and
31, 2003 for the second annual Fyfe and Drurnm Muster. Trustee Rocque offered
the second. All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney
voted Yes.
Mayor Mahoney requested a Resolution (#24) authorizing him to sign a
contract with C.L. Marvin for our annual audit, price not to exceed $3,500.
Trustee Kelts offered and Trustee Pascucci seconded. All trustees and Mayor
Mahoney voted Yes. The Mayor announced that a new Village sign at Knickerbacker
Park has been donated by
Jon Matson of 1 Day Signs.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:26PM.
