Regular Meeting September 8, 2010

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:30PM. Following a Public hearing regarding a 4way stop at Lawrence and Mercer Streets. Present were Mayor Mahoney, Trustee Kelts, Trustee Rocque, VanDervoort and Carson. Clerk Koblensky, Treasurer VanDervoort and Attorney Varley were also present. Also attending were Chief Jason Rocque, Asst. Chief Donald Baldwin, Robert Lowther, Craig Falcone, Steve Bonnier and Joe Charbonneau.

Trustee Kelts moved to waive the reading from the previous meeting. Trustee VanDervoort seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Trustee Carson -  in parks looking to purchase a tire swing for 4th Street Park, Youth Council paved the parking lot, and are going to replace the fence. There are participating in the garage sale.

Trustee VanDervoort-  The Museum will be interviewing people of Irish decent, any one who has any information or who would like to be interviewed, feel free to call the Museum. Tug Boat round-up starts this week kicks off with tug boat parade which starts in Albany, up the Hudson to Waterford. The Fire Dept had a quiet month there were only 5 calls. The dept continued with weekly equipment checks and training.

Trustee Rocque- Work has been done in the following areas: Park maint, Street maint, Full report available in the village office.

Trustee Kelts-  Village sellout will be the weekend of the 25th and 26th.

Mayor Mahoney reports-  Second Street project is underway, they needed to reset the curbs they were not high enough, CHIPS reimbursement Craig and I work for many hours on this hopefully we should get around $79,000 back. The Waterford Historical Museum and Cultural Center Proudly announces our new Science and Technology Lecture Series. Fall and Winter at 7PM on the second Thursday of every month at McGrievey’s starting on October 14th with the history of Emma Willard, Journey through Waterford. Food and Drink available for purchase all evening. Suggested donation is $6 per person ($5) Members. For more information call the Museum at 238-0809

 The financial report for the month of August is as follows: Checking Acct. $35,197; Money Market Acct., $87,065 for a total General fund balance of $122,262. Special Project Fund balance $8,618, Unaudited Utilities, $5,712; Payrolls $9,052; Section 8, $31,469. The current abstract on the General Funds totals $48,701.39. Specials Projects Abstract is $1017.16. Funds Transfers $40,000 from the Money Market Account to the General Fund Acct to support expenditures approved at the August 11th, 2010 meeting. Transferred $10.50 in spending authority from A3410.21 to A1325.4 to support payroll taxes on the Fire Department Support Staff. Trustee Kelts moved to pay the bills upon the approval of department heads and the board. Trustee VanDervoort seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.  

 Trustee Kelts offered resolution#    to adopt Local Law # 2   4 way stop at the intersections of Lawrence and Mercer Streets. Trustee VanDervoort offered the second. All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted yes. 

Trustee Rocque offered resolution#      authorizing the Mayor to sign an application for service, for non metered service from national grid for the signal at 6th and Division Street. Trustee VanDervoort offered the second. All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

             Trustee Kelts offered resolution#       to increase maint budget by $20,093.75 to cover the construction of the turn-around at the end of Lawrence Street. Trustee

 Rocque offered the second. All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

 

              Trustee Kelts offered resolution#       to close 1st Street from Broad Street to Division

 Street Friday September 24th at 5:00PM until Sunday September 26th at 6:00PM to-way for

residents only. Trustee Rocque offered the second. All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

 

              Trustee Kelts offered resolution#      authorizing McGrievey’s to extend the noise

 Ordinance until 10:00PM on Friday night September 10, 2010 they are having a band for the

 tug boat round-up. Trustee Rocque offered the second. All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney

 voted yes.

        Trustee Kelts offered resolution# to hire Donlon Construction to reset curbs and replace sidewalks on South and Broad Streets not to exceed $15,000 home owners will pay 50%.Trustee Rocque offered the second. All Trustee and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.

Trustee Kelts offered resolution#     to clean-up garbage at 18 Middle Street. Trustee Rocque offered the second. All Trustees and Mayor Mahoney voted yes.
